Fireworks will return to Lake Oroville on the 4th of July.
The Rotary Club stepped-up to head up fundraising for the show and with help from local businesses and the community, raised more than 20 thousand dollars to pay for it.
The fireworks will start at approximately 9:30 p.m. and will be launched from a barge out on the lake. Because the water is low this year, the fireworks will be launched higher into the air.
If you're watching from land and want to head to the Oroville Dam area you're advised to get an early start. Half of the upper parking lot overlook has been reserved for veterans.
Traffic on top of Oroville Dam will become one way (going in) at 3:00 p.m. on the 4th. The dam will close to all vehicle traffic at 5 p.m. There will be no shuttle provided this year.
Organizers want to reminder everyone of the extreme fire danger, and that all fireworks are illegal outside of the Oroville city limits. No BBQ, grilling or open flame of any kind are allowed in any of the Lake's parking areas... only in designated day use or campsite areas.
Also, bring a flashlight for the walk back to your vehicle after dark. It's not a bad idea to bring portable chairs and a light jacket as well.
