With the Fourth of July just a week and a half away, vendors of ‘Safe and Sane' fireworks are beginning to set up shop.

In the North State, scores of fireworks stands like will begin selling sparklers, fountains and wheels on Sunday.

‘Safe and Sane' fireworks are not allowed in Chico or anywhere in Shasta County, but they are legal in Oroville, Gridley, Willows, Hamilton City, Red Bluff and Corning among others.

Many people say these ‘legal' fireworks anywhere during the summer, especially in extreme drought conditions, is a bad idea. Firefighters are conferenced as well, but officials told Action News Now it's not the fireworks sold at the ‘Safe and Sane' stands that concern them.

The fireworks that concern local firefighters are the ones sold out of state and brought in, fireworks like bottle rockets, sky rockets, and the other explosives that can go from beautiful to destructive in a matter of minutes.
