Firefighters quickly put out a fire at a Chico apartment Monday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived at the two-story apartment building on the 1100 block of West 7th Street around 2:30 p.m. after several people reported seeing flames coming from an upstairs unit.

The blaze was knocked down within 15 minutes, but crews say the apartment sustained significant damages, as flames spread from the buildings outer wall and moved into the attic.

No injuries were reported. Damage from smoke and water was mostly confined to the apartment and attic, and firefighters say the majority of the apartment’s contents were able to be saved.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
