Cooler temperatures are helping firefighters stop the fire which has burned about 1,600 acres inside the Modoc National Forest Service.
The Gulch Fire continues to burn in the interior and firefighter will work on Saturday to strengthen the perimeter line and start mopping up.
The blaze caused a power outage after it damaged some power lines around midnight. Residents of Canby, Lookout Rachettes and Day were effected, according to the U.S. National Forest incident website.
About 200 fire crews and aircrafts are battling the fire, which started Thursday afternoon and is about 30 percent contained.
The Modoc County Sheriff's Office have notified residents living near Blacks Canyon about the potential threat of evacuation if the fire continues to spread.
