A Butte County preschool has been forced to close today after an early morning attic fire.
Oroville Fire Department officials say the fire was reported shortly before 1:30 a.m. at the Sierra Del Oro School on Wyandotte Avenue.
Oroville Fire officials say the fire started in the attic area over the school gymnasium, it took fire crews about an hour to put out the fire.
Battalion Chief Dean Hill estimates the fire caused $300,000 to $400,000 worth of damage and will likely keep the school shut down for an extended period of time.
There is still no word on what caused the fire, but firefighters say foul play is not suspected.
