Fire on Palermo-Honcut Hwy Fully Contained at 20 Acres

(UPDATE) 7:00 p.m.- The fire on the Palermo-Honcut Hwy is 100% contained at 20 Acres. In total one residence, one travel trailer, one motor home and one fifth wheel (all on the same property) were destroyed. Cal Fire will keep some personnel at the site overnight to cover any host spots. All road closures have been lifted and the cause of the fire is still being investigated. According to PG&E’s outage map, 151 customers in Palermo and 338 customers on Oroville remain without power at this time.
(UPDATE) 6:07 p.m.- Butte County Cal Fire has held the advancement of the fire on Palermo-Honcut Hwy to 15 acres. They responded to the fire with 16 engines, four dozers, four air tankers and two helicopters. They have confirmed one residence and one 5th-wheel have been destroyed, but no reported injuries. There were a couple of residents trapped in their houses in the early stages of the fire but that threat has been mitigated. Palermo-Honcut Hwy is currently closed at Cox Lane but Cal Fire expects to gradually relieve resources in the next few hours.
BREAKING: Butte County Cal Fire is currently responding to a 15-acre fire near 8719 Palermo-Honcut Hwy which was first reported at 5:10 p.m. this evening. The fire is expected to grow with the prevalent winds. Cal Fire has confirmed the fire has jumped Melody Lane and CHP is planning on closing the Palermo-Honcut Hwy in the area. We have received an unconfirmed report one structure may have been destroyed.
