Cal Fire Butte County is conducting a training exercise in Paradise Wednesday, and smoke could be visible to residents for most of the day.

The department will be conducting a three acre control burn on Forest Service Road at Fire Station 35 in Paradise at 9 a.m. and expect that it will last for the majority of the day.

The control burn will provide live fire training to CAL FIRE firefighters, and remove dry, hazardous vegetation and invasive plants.

"The opportunity to combine firefighter training and hazard reduction in a controlled environment is a great benefit", stated Battalion Chief Garrett Needles.
