A fire in the Klamath National Forest has interrupted power to communities downriver.
The fire started Friday night and is burning on 17 to 20 acres, near the Sarah Totten Campground in the Klamath National Forest. It's across from the mouth of the Scott River and on the south side of the Klamath River.
Fire officials say power lines passing through the area of the fire have been de-energized. As a result, downriver communities have been without electricity since last night.
Power company crews will bring the lines back up as soon as it is safe.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. High winds are making it difficult for firefighters to contain it.
