A Trinity County brushfire has prompted the evacuation of homes along Little Browns Creek Road, east of Weaverville.
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office says mandatory evacuations are in place for Little Browns Creek Road and Highway 299 has been closed in both directions.
An evacuation center is being setup at the First Baptist Church at 1261 S. Main Street
The 35 acre blaze was reported around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire started when a pickup truck lost a tire, which produced a spark that spread to nearby vegetation.
