Fire destroys two homes in city of Shasta Lake

A fire ripped through two homes in the city of Shasta Lake.

Firefighters were called out just after 11 p.m. Monday to the 4000 block of Flower Street.

Two houses were fully involved and flames were threatening other homes as well.

Downed power lines hindered crews' mop-up efforts until Shasta Lake P.U.D. was able to cut power to the structures around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials told us the blaze caused extensive damage.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Over 20 firefighters from the city of Shasta Lake, Mountain Gate, Redding, and Cal Fire worked to knock down the blaze.

Mop-up duties lasted until 3 a.m. Tuesday.
