Multiple families in willows are now homeless after a house fire broke out on New Year’s Day.

Willows fire department responded to house fire just after 10 a.m. on the 100 block of North Plumas Street. No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire department says the structure was an old two-story home that was converted to a quadplex.

It took nearly two hours for fire crews to knock down the flames.

The home is estimated to be at a total loss.

Crews remained on scene throughout the afternoon, mopping up the area.

What caused the fire remains unknown as the investigation continues.
