Redding fire crews have knocked down a blaze at Kent's Meat Market on Airport Road in South Redding.

Fire officials say a pickup truck burst into flames, and a subsequent explosion occurred just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Flames spread to the nearby meat market and a man was seriously burned. He has since been transported to Mercy Medical Center, and his condition is unknown.

Fire crews expect to remain on the scene for several hours mopping up. The building suffered minor damages, but none of the produce was damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
