Residents of Magalia and Forest Ranch may see heavy smoke in the distance tomorrow.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) fire crews plan to burn piles of brush and limbs in the Forks of Butte Recreation Area. There are two project areas. One is near Doe Mill Road and Ditch Creek Road, and the other is near Doe Mill Road and Garland Road. The project area is about five miles north of Magalia, and about three miles east of Forest Ranch.
The brush piles were created during BLM hazardous fuels reduction work that was done to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health.
Friday’s burn will only occur if the weather and air quality conditions allow for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion.
