Cal Fire-Butte County crews are battling a small vegetation fire that was sparked by a lightning strike just north of Butte Meadows, near Deer Creek.
The fire was originally reported at 8:30 a.m., but crews were unable to locate the blaze. A second report came in around 10 a.m. Crews reached the fire a short time later and have held fire to one acre.
The fires remote location has provided challenges for the Butte County ground crews, who are being assisted by Tehama County and Lassen National Forest firefighters.
Thousands of lightning strikes were reported across the North State, and strikes sparked more than a dozen fires that are continuing to burn in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
