Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina is looking to parlay a standout debate performance into serious campaign momentum.
The welcome she's getting from a conservative gathering in Atlanta suggests she could be on her way.
The former Hewlett-Packard chief reminded 1,000 conservative activists at the RedState Gathering that several recent presidents were once dismissed as underdogs.
She says Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama ended up in the Oval Office because voters wanted them there.
Fiorina did not qualify for Thursday's Fox News debate that featured the top 10 candidates as measured by the most recent polls. But she has garnered wide praise for her performance in a separate forum featuring the remaining seven GOP candidates.
She says she will continue pushing her conservative outsider message.
