(UPDATE) 4:05 p.m.- The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed Matthew Bruce was arrested on the corner of Fig Avenue and Placer Street in Redding at approximately 2:20 p.m. this afternoon. According to detectives, Bruce admitted to his involvement in the home invasion robbery on Hill Street in Anderson this morning.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is in the hunt for the fourth suspect in a home invasion robbery in Anderson this morning. Law enforcement officials state 26-year-old Matthew Ernest Wayne Bruce is currently wanted on several felony charges and is considered armed and dangerous.

Just before 4 a.m. this morning deputies were called to 19228 Hill St. in Anderson to a report of a home invasion robbery. According to responding deputies, the victims claim three suspects entered their home and stole a television, a set of speakers, house keys, and a purse. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a pistol which was fired during an altercation between the suspects and the victims. No one was reported to be shot but one of the victims was later transported to an area hospital for head injuries. After the robbery all three suspects fled in a vehicle driven by a black female.

Shortly after the robbery a Redding Police Officer spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle pulled into a driveway on Topaz Court in Redding. One of the suspects, later identified as Bruce, ran from the car and into the residence. The other suspects were arrested outside the home without incident. A perimeter was established around the home on Topaz Court and law enforcement officials attempted to convince the last suspect to surrender. After a search warrant was obtained the Redding Police SWAT unit entered the home but the suspect had already fled.

The three suspects arrested in the incident have been identified as 26-year-old Marcus Smith, 26-year-old Scott Mikell, and 24-year-old Shelly Harris, all of Redding. During their investigation, detectives learned the victims of the home invasion robbery were arrested in connection with an illegal drugs sale investigation conducted by agents with the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) on January 3. The home robbery victims were arrested at the house on Hill Street after agents located over 20 pounds of processed marijuana, 95 growing plants, two illegal shotguns, a handgun, and evidence of drug sales. The two were released on bail for that case with pending felony charges.
