FEMA has authorized the use of federal funds to assist the state of California in the fight against the Eiler Fire in Shasta County.

Governor Jerry Brown submitted a request and secured the grant Saturday. The Fire Management Assistance Grant will help local, state, and tribal agencies get reimbursements for their work on the Eiler Fire.

The Disaster Relief Fund provides funding to assist with fires that threaten to cause major disasters. The costs that are eligible for reimbursement under this grant are equipment use, tools, materials, supplies, and mobilization and demobilization activities.

The FEMA funding will reimburse the agencies for 75 percent of the eligible costs.
