SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Federal officials are investigating the discovery of a pipe bomb along a Sacramento freeway off-ramp, near where a similar device was found a month ago.

The Sacramento Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1CYkv37) a section of Interstate 80 was closed for several hours on Monday before a bomb squad rendered the device safe.

The other pipe bomb was found March 4 along an off-ramp of nearby Highway 50. That device was spotted by a Sacramento police officer.

California Highway Patrol Officer Chad Hertzell said Wednesday that the two devices were made similarly.

The CHP, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the two incidents together.

Officials declined to describe the devices in detail, but said they are both cylindrical and had bomb components.

Both devices were disabled without incident.
