Jan 21, 2014 12:57 PM

A stretch of the Feather River was found to be in need of serious litter removal by the Butte County Resource Conservation District, and with the help from members of the Oroville community, the litter should be no more after this weekend.

The District will host its first River Trail and Cleanup on Saturday, January 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers interested in helping with the cleaning efforts are asked to meet in the top parking lot behind the Municipal Auditorium located at 1200 Meyers St. in Oroville. The cleanup will span from Oliver Street to Bedrock Park.

Volunteers are suggested to bring water, snacks, and to wear appropriate clothing. The cleanup is open to volunteers of all ages but minors must be accompanied by a guardian.

The cleanup will also include staff from the Butte County Natural Resources Conservation Service and the EC Powell Fly Fishers.

Anyone with any questions regarding this weekend’s event is encouraged to contact Sam Rossi, Conservation Associate, at 343-0112 or at buttecountyrcd@gmail.com
