FBI offering $5,000 reward in Marc Thompson case

It has been more than one year since the body of Chico State student Marc Thompson was found in a burned car off Oro-Quincy Highway and now the FBI is offering $5,000 for information on the case.

Thompson’s body was found September 3, 2014, two miles east of Mountain House, and sheriff’s deputies say that their investigation has yet to yield a motive or suspect.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has been working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from early on in this case. The FBI is now offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person, or persons responsible for Marc Thompson’s death. The FBI has also set up a new tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Secret Witness is also offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the person, or persons, responsible for Marc Thompson's death.

There are five ways to submit a tip

  4. Contact Butte County Sheriff’s Detective Chris D’Amato at 530-538-7671
  5. Call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
