CHULA VISTA, Calif. (AP) - The father of a 14-year-old boy who took a loaded gun to a San Diego County school has been sentenced to jail.
U-T San Diego says Zachariah Dow was ordered Thursday to spend eight months in custody - at least 30 days behind bars and the rest possibly in alternative custody with a GPS monitor.
Dow's son brought a .44-caliber revolver to Hilltop High School in Chula Vista in May. It was one of three his father kept unsecured at home.
Dow, who has domestic violence convictions, pleaded guilty to child endangerment and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The boy was arrested but his case was handled in Juvenile Court and proceedings were confidential. He's now at a different school.
