The trial of a Chico man charged with strangling his wife resumed Friday.

This was the fourth day of testimony in the trial of 30-year-old Zir Weems.

Weem's father testified during the trial Friday. He told jurors his son, Zir Weems and his daughter-in-law Angelica Weems both went for a walk, but only his son returned. Angelica disappeared soon after.

Sheriff investigators presented forensic evidence today, as well. Angelica’s co-workers at TJ Maxx in Chico also testified of Angelica's fear of her husband. The co-workers also testified to bruising on Angelica prior to her disappearance.

Other co-workers and family members will testify next week to statements by the victim about her fear of her husband and injuries they saw on her.

Weems is accused of killing his 23-year old wife Angelica in 2014. She was a mother of four.

A forensic pathologist, Thomas Resk, testified earlier this week confirming she was strangled and her body was found with her clothes and jewelry in a shallow grave along the Sacramento River near Ord Bend.

The trial is expected to resume on Tuesday.
