Making money in the farming business just isn’t the same as it used to be.
To help keep up with the changing times, many North State farmers are turning to more creative ways to bring in business.
Greg Hawes’ family has been farming in Anderson since 1863. A fifth-generation farmer, Hawes has decided to grow with the times and turn to agri-tainment: the mixture of agriculture and entertainment.
“The margins are just so small,” said Hawes, the owner of Historic Hawes Farms. “You have to do something different to keep the revenue coming in.”
Historic Hawes Farms will continue its agri-tainment in September.
