A new Chico restaurant is serving up a taste of Louisiana.
“It’s Cajun food. It’s southern food. It’s spicy,” said Daniel Simpson, assistant manager of the Popeye’s Louisiana Chicken which opened in Chico Tuesday.
Dozens of people turned out to get a taste of the famous fried chicken from the eatery located on Mangrove Ave. One of the biggest fans is another local restaurant owner.
“I’ve been eating Popeye’s since they existed,” said Mike Papp, who owns Kinder’s Meats & BBQ in Chico. “You can’t eat BBQ all the time. Even though I own the joint, I still love Popeye’s.”
Popeye’s will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The drive-thru will be open until midnight.
