SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - A 91-year-old Santa Rosa woman has made good on a bucket-list wish to once again take the wheel of the car she learned to drive in, back in 1937.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that Clara Mae Blasingame had always talked about the Ford coupe she had first driven as a 13-year-old.
The 77-year-old car had last run about a quarter-century ago. A few months ago Blasingame's sons decided to get the Ford out of storage and fix it up for their mother.
Blasingame's children and grandchildren gathered in a Santa Rosa parking lot late last month to watch her once again take the wheel.
She drove the car for two loops with a 15-year-old grandson riding shotgun as her family stood by cheering.
