Local teens are gearing up for careers in emergency response.
Fire And Safety Training (F.A.S.T.) kicked off at Butt College early Monday morning.
Better known as F.A.S.T. Camp, this program aims to give local youth hands-on experience.
“We like to let them hit the ground running and teach them what it’s all about,” Butte County Firefighter Lane Costa said. “So they can get an idea just how physical the job can be.”
Supported by various Butte County agencies, this week-long camp is free. They usually accept 20 teens, but took in 25 this year due to so many applicants.
