Today looks to be the hottest day of the week, with valley temperatures expected to climb well above the century mark. Chico is projected to reach 103 degrees this afternoon, and Redding is expected to be in the 109 degree range. Mountain areas will also climb into the high 90's to triple digits.
Dry weather for today will continue to leave the region with high fire danger, but more moisture, and cooler temperatures will return midweek. The threat of thunderstorms will return to the mountains on Tuesday, and will persist through Thursday.
The end of the week looks much cooler, and sunny weather is ahead for next weekend. I hope everyone stays safe in the extreme heat today, and has a marvelous Monday!
