Extremely hot, and dry conditions are ahead for the start of your work week. Winds are starting out the day out of the Northwest, and that will allow more smoke to enter the valley from the fires burning in the Northern Mountains .Those winds are expected to shift this afternoon, and become out of the South to 10mph. Temperatures are starting out the day in the mid to high 60's for the valley, and mountain areas dipped into the low 40's to mid 50's overnight. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the 100 to 107 degrees in the valley, and into the 91 to 100 degree range in the mountains. Some parts of the valley could potentially break records this afternoon. Redding & Red Bluff are projected to be just 1 degree shy of the record high temperatures for this afternoon. Humidity values will fall into the single digits. The very hot temperatures and dry conditions will result in elevated fire danger.
The above average temperatures are projected to continue through the middle of the week, before some minor relief from the heat arrives Thursday. Dry weather will persist through the upcoming weekend. I hope everyone stays safe in the heat, and has a marvelous Monday!
