The Shasta County Bomb Squad and the FBI were called to the scene after a Tehama County resident contacted the Sheriff's Office Monday afternoon asking for assistance disposing some explosive devices.
The items were discovered in a shed, and according to a press release from the Red Bluff Police Department, they were previously used in mining operations.
Johnson Road in Red Bluff will be closed for an extended period of time Wednesday while the items are isolated and destroyed. The Police department is asking that people avoid the area.
Residents in the immediate area have been notified of the situation, but no evacuations have been ordered.
Investigators say there is no information to suggest the items were possessed with any criminal intent.
