DAMASCUS (AP) - A Syrian official says 17 people have been killed in twin explosions near a school in Homs (hohms).
The blasts happened as children were leaving school at the end of the day. At least 10 of the dead are children.
The neighborhood is dominated by a Shiite offshoot sect that Syrian President Bashar Assad belongs to.
Meanwhile, activists say Islamic State militants have beheaded nine Kurdish fighters, including three women, captured in clashes near the Syria-Turkey border.
