PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - A former Stanford University swimmer is set to be arraigned on sexual assault charges in a Palo Alto courtroom.
The San Jose Mercury News reports that 19-year-old Brock Turner will appear Monday morning. He was arrested Jan. 18 after being caught on top of an unconscious and half-nude woman outside a fraternity party both had attended. He was not a fraternity member.
Police say two men riding bikes on campus saw an unconscious woman on the ground with a man on top of her. Police say Turner ran away but was caught by the men and held until police arrived.
He faces five felony counts and is free on $150,000 bail and voluntarily withdrew from Stanford. His attorney has not commented on the case.
Turner was a three-time All-American high school swimmer in Dayton, Ohio.
