(UPDATE) 3:49 p.m.- The Chaparral Incident Unified Command has announced the hard closure on Chaparral Drive will be changed to a soft closure at Vladimir Court at 4 p.m. today. The “soft” closure means the road will reopen to residents only. Residents must have proper identification in order to enter.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has announced portions of the evacuation zones around Chaparral Drive west of Redding are being re-opened to residents only. The re-population process began at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon with the transitioning from hard to soft road closures on Power Line Road south of Placer Road and Irish Creek Lane south of Placer Road.

The “soft” closure means roads are open to residents only who will need proper identification in order for re-entry. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has requested the general public to stay away as residents return to their homes.

The hard closure at Chaparral Drive remains in effect until further notice but the sheriff’s office anticipates allowing residents back into Chaparral Drive by this evening.
