One of the many improvements planned for Enloe this year is the addition of a new rescue helicopter. The old one is 12 years old and the new one should be flying by spring time. The helicopter was due for an inspection and the Enloe Board of Trustees decided it was time to get a new one. It’s called the EC130 Ecostar and Enloe is buying it for 3 million dollars. The helicopter has many benefits including more safety features, and better air conditioning so patients will feel more comfortable. Enloe officials say on average they transport about 600 to 700 patients a year.
