Enloe's new FlightCare helicopter is officially active and flew on a mission to south Butte County today.

The E-C130 T2 EcoStar took to the skies today, ready to respond to emergencies within a 75-mile radius of Enloe Medical Center.

The single-engine helicopter is said to be safer, bigger, and quieter than anything Enloe has had before.

It also features new medical equipment and an intercom system, and advanced technology at the pilot's fingertips.

"This is everything that we asked for," said Enloe Pilot and Director of Emergency Services and FlightCare. "We actually designed this pretty much from the ground up to suit our particular mission here in Chico. It's not perfect for everyone else, but it's perfect for Enloe FlightCare."

Enloe purchased the helicopter for $3.5 million and say the sale of their old helicopter, combined with foundation funds and fundraising dollars, will cover that cost.
