LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say an engineer injured in last week's California commuter train derailment has died.

The Oxnard Police Department says it was notified Tuesday by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles that 62-year-old Glenn Steele had died.

Steele had been transferred to Cedars-Sinai from a hospital in Ventura County.

The Metrolink commuter train derailed when it struck a heavy pickup truck and trailer that had been left on the tracks.

The pickup driver was initially arrested but was subsequently released without charges being immediately filed.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by numerous agencies.
