The annual Empty Bowls Project returns to Chico next week. It’s a benefit the Torres Community Shelter.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger . In Chico, High School and Junior High School students create hand crafted ceramic bowls. Guests pay $10 to choose a bowl, and fill it with soup donated by area restaurants. Bread is served as well, and the money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger. In Chico, the Torres Community Shelter receives the money.
Empty Bowls takes place Thursday, March 13th, 2014 at Chico Junior High School’s Cafeteria. The soup is served at 5:00pm and 6:15pm by more than 15 different local restaurants. Only 500 tickets are being sold, and can be purchased in advance at Chico Junior High, Bidwell Junior High, Marsh Junior High, Chico High School, PV High, Zucchini & Vine, Christian & Johnson, or Chico Florist.###
