State road crews and local construction workers are in the process of conducting storm-related emergency repairs on State Route 299W between Redding and Weaverville.
The area received significant rainfall and heavy winds during the last storm that resulted in several slides and severe erosion of several slopes between post miles 3.0 to 4.3. In one location near post mile 3.5, anchors holding a rock fall protection system were compromised by the storm.
There will be one way traffic control, with flaggers, from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Caltrans estimates design and drainage repairs will cost approximately $2.5 million.
