The Superintendent of Tehama County Schools resigned at the meeting of the Tehama County Board of Education in Red Bluff Monday.
Allen has been under fire recently and faces misdemeanor charges for alleged theft, and falsifying his education history.
The afternoon meeting was full to capacity and open to the public.
For 40 minutes members of the public voice opinions about what the next step should be.
There is debate over whether the Assistant Superintendent should be appointed to the post, or someone else.
And there is also a suggestion on the table that the runner up in the 2012 election ... Harley North ... Be appointed to the position.
He garnered 48.6% of the vote.
The Board adjourned with plans to further discuss a replacement for Allen at its next meeting, on February 17th.
