WASHINGTON (AP) - A misfired email has injected California's U.S. Senate race with a jolt of drama and confusion.
The email that circulated Tuesday announced that U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez from Orange County would enter the 2016 contest Thursday in Santa Ana.
But the electronic missive turned out to be a mistake.
Sanchez adviser Bill Carrick says the email was a draft that was accidentally distributed.
He says Sanchez hasn't made up her mind about the Senate race.
Sanchez would have become the second prominent Democrat to enter the contest to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer.
State Attorney General Kamala Harris entered the race in January.
