Elementary school student reports abduction attempt near Chico school

Chico police are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction near Neal Dow Elementary School Monday afternoon.

According to David Scott, Assistant Superintendent with the Chico Unified School District, the fifth grad Neal Dow student told his parents that as he was walking home from school Monday a man approached him, grabbed him by the arm, but eventually let him go. According to the school district he was not injured.

The boy's parents contacted the school district immediately and a call went out to parents Monday night.

Chico police are handling the investigation, but a suspect has not been found.

School officials are reminding students to walk in pairs and always be aware of their surroundings.
