The Red Bluff Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire just before 3:30 a.m. at 1175 Hasvold Street in Red Bluff. Upon their arrival, firefighters found a garage and parts of a residence in flames. All of the residents had exited the house while other residents in the area began using garden hoses in order to prevent the fire from spreading.
According to the department’s press release the house next door, 1165 Hasvold St., had also caught fire on the garage’s exterior wall. The fires were contained just before 4 a.m. and crews remained at the scene until 8 a.m. to keep an eye on hot spots. The structures at 1175 Hasvold, whose tenants were identified as David Hamilton, Doug Hamilton, and an unnamed teenaged male, sustained major damage. The house at 1165 Hasvold sustained moderate damage to the garage.
One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion but did not require further treatment. The Red Cross sent volunteers to the scene to assist the fire victims. The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
