Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy each finished the first round of the PGA Championship at 1-under 71 - five shots behind leader Dustin Johnson.
Not spectacular. But decent enough considering they were playing in the afternoon, with the winds whipping around Whistling Straits.
The highlight of McIlroy's round was his shot out of a lake beside the fifth green. With most of the ball well above the water, he rolled up one leg of his fuchsia pants, opened up the club face and flopped the shot to 10 feet, then made the putt to save par.
Trying to become the first player to win all three American majors in a single year, Spieth started the day with 10 straight pars and ended up with two birdies and one bogey.
They are chasing Johnson, who played in the morning, when the weather was better. David Lingmerth played in the afternoon and shot 67 to finish one shot behind Johnson.
