There was a lot of walking at Durham High School Saturday.
More than 100 people took to the high school’s track for Durham’s Relay For Life Fundraiser.
This fundraiser raised more than $22,000 last year and event officials hope to expand on that this year.
Some participants are doing more than just walking. Melissa Cook is donating 10 inches of her hair towards the making of a wig for a cancer survivor.
“It’s going to be a little difficult; I’ve been growing it out for two years,” said the Durham resident. “(But) if this is what I have to do then this is nothing at all. It will grow back in another year or two and I'll donate it again.”
