Chico police say a woman was stabbed in Bidwell Park late Monday night, allegedly while she was fighting with another woman about drugs.
Police were called to a stabbing in the area of Sycamore Field around 11 p.m. The caller said a woman had been stabbed and the attacker had fled the area.
When officers arrived they found a 41-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound to the chest. She was taken to Enloe Medical Center and was required to have a chest tube inserted.
While searching for the suspect, officers located a woman near Vallambrosa and Mangrove who matched the description given to officers.
The alleged stabber was identified as Kay Britt, a 40-year-old Chico transient. Police say the two women were arguing over a drug debt, and the victim was found to be in possession of narcotics.
The stabbing victim was cited for possession of narcotics and is being treated at Enloe Medical Center. Britt was charged with assault and booked into the Butte County Jail.
