LOS ANGELES (AP) - A driver who killed an Italian honeymooner and injured 17 pedestrians on a crowded Venice Beach boardwalk has been sentenced to 42 years to life in prison.

Nathan Campbell's sentence Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court came after a judge said his apology fell short of taking responsibility for his crimes.

Campbell was convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of newlywed Alice Gruppioni and dozens of other charges.

Prosecutors say Campbell was angry at a drug dealer who had ripped him off when he drove down the pedestrian path and struck innocent bystanders.

Campbell apologized for the nightmare he caused in what he called an accident after making bad decisions.
