A suspected DUI driver was arrested in Anderson Tuesday night after he led authorities on a 26 mile high-speed chase.

Police say the chase began just before 11 p.m. when an officer spotted a 1997 Dodge pick-up truck driving erratically on Highway 273.

A traffic stop was attempted near Highway 273 and Hill Street in Anderson, but the driver, later identified as 23-year-old-transient Cody Allen Duncan, failed to yield.

Duncan proceeded to lead police on a 26 mile chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The chase ended when the truck broke down 12 miles east of Palo Cedro on Oak Run Road.

Duncan was arrested without further incident and booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, felony probation violation and reckless driving. Police say additional charges may be filed.
