Driver dies in Orland crash on 99W

One person was died in an accident in Glenn County. The accident happened at 1:52am Saturday. According to the CHP, the driver of a 2007 Nissan SUV was driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 99W at County Road 20 and failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway.

The unidentified driver went off the road and down a culvert, hitting a cement drain pipe. The vehicle then went airborne, hit a power pole and rolled several times, catching fire.

The driver died at the scene. The CHP says the victim was wearing a seat belt. The investigation continues. According to the Glenn County Sheriff's Office, the victim's name may not be released until Wednesday or Thursday.
