The city of Chico is going back to the drawing board on the issue of providing 24-hour public toilets for the downtown area.
The council discussed several options at last night's meeting to provide facilities to the homeless population and others. One of the ideas was redesigning the current bathrooms at City Plaza, another was to build a permanent structure near downtown Chico.
The motion to have portable restrooms failed on a tie vote, but the vote was unanimous to refer the matter back to internal affairs to look into improving the existing bathrooms at city plaza or to have an outside entity provide restrooms off city property.
