MENDOCINO, Calif. (AP) - Mendocino County officials have approved a permit for a remodel and expansion of the famous Blair House Inn, which was home to Angela Lansbury's crime-solving novelist on TV's "Murder, She Wrote."

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports the Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to overturn a review board vote against the project at the 127-year-old house.

Opponents contended that the alterations were inconsistent with the character of Mendocino's historic district.

Owner Grover Wickersham promised he wouldn't to do anything to hurt the integrity of the house.

From 1984 to 1996, the outside of the house served as the facade for fictional mystery writer and amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher on "Murder, She Wrote." The inside of her house was a Hollywood set.

Wickersham says he's hoping to reopen the inn for business this summer.
