A Fresno based development company has cleared a number of illegal transient camps and illegal dumps from their Redding property after accruing more than $11,000 in fines.
In February, Thomason Development was ordered by the Administrative Hearings Board to pay $50 for every day they failed to clear the blighted property northwest of Oasis Road and Cascade Boulevard.
The property has a long history of transient camps and several people contacted by code enforcement agents said they’d been camping on the property for over three years.
According to the Redding Police Department, Thomason Development did not take action until two weeks ago, when they hired a hauling and demolition company to clean the property.
The cleaning was completed Tuesday, 227 days after the daily penalty took effect, a total cost of $11,350.
Police say code enforcement teams will continue to patrol the property, and they are hopeful Thomason Development will continue to monitor their Redding property.
